Updated Announcement - Jared Nolan

New Tecumseth, ONTARIO—November 21, 2016

The staff of Stevenson Memorial Hospital are shocked and deeply saddened by the news that one of their colleagues, Jared Nolan, Manager of Corporate Communications and Patient Access, was arrested by the OPP and charged with three counts of Internet luring, one count of transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 18 years old, one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

We want to assure you that high quality patient care and safety remains our priority and that the community should feel safe when coming to Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

Our attention at this time is focused on working cooperatively with the police and undertaking our own internal investigation.  While we cannot comment on any specifics given the criminal investigation, we can confirm the following:

  • Jared Nolan has been suspended from Stevenson Memorial pending the results of our internal investigation.
  • The Hospital had no prior knowledge of the allegations or that the OPP was conducting a criminal investigation until learning of Mr. Nolan’s arrest.
  • One laptop computer and one cell phone was retrieved from the hospital by the OPP conducting the search.
  • In his role as Manager of Corporate Communications, Jared Nolan managed the general inquiry feature on the hospital’s website.
  • Our preliminary investigation confirms that Jared Nolan did not have access to patient records.  Further system audits are being conducted.
  • Jared Nolan began working at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in April, 2015 and was arrested at the hospital on November 17th, 2016.
  • As required for all new hires, Mr. Nolan received training and agreed to comply with the hospital’s policies relating to privacy and confidentiality, code of conduct, appropriate internet and electronic mail use, and service excellence standards.

We encourage anyone that has information that may help the police investigation to please contact: Detective Constable Dale Smith at dale.smith@opp.ca.
